Community Empowerment

Mercy has provided small business loans (Equivalent to $100) to youth and women in the local community to establish farming operations, start or grow their small business, and provide for their families. The aim of this program is to encourage self-help, put people's destiny in their own hands and transform their communities. As a way of supporting participants of this in initiative, we organize a monthly support group meeting to support their growth and address challenges facing them.

Children's Sports & Medical Program

Mercy International holds an annual soccer tournament and medical program in May of every year for the children of Osi-Ekiti and its surrounding communities. For two days, children from ten primary schools from Osi and other neighboring communities participate in a single elimination soccer tournament. As the sports matches ongoing, we attend to the children medically.

Our support communities in Minnesota greatly help make this program possible by providing vitamins, children's books, soccer balls, and sports equipment. The following table shows the number of participants and equipment that were distributed to the children between the years 2013 and 2016.
